Shree Vishnu Sahasranama Namasankirtana Mandali — Founders and Logo

Our History

Shree Vishnu Sahasranama Namasankirtana Mandali (Visankirtali) was established in February 1969 with the noble mission of spreading the divine practice of Namasankirtanam — the congregational chanting of the names of the Lord. Based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, the Mandali has been a beacon for devotees and bhajan enthusiasts across India for over five decades.

The Mandali organises regular satsangams, bhajan sessions, and the grand annual Lakshmi Nrusimha Jayanthi Utsavam, providing devotees an opportunity to participate in celebrations similar to the revered Pudukottai Utsavam.

Our Founders & Inspiration

The Mandali was founded to carry forward the tradition of Pudukottai Bhajan Paddhathi and popularise Namasankirtanam, following the teachings and inspiration of great saints and scholars.

V. Pranatharthihara Sastrighal

(1908 – 1974)

Founder of the Mandali

A devoted scholar who learned sampradaya bhajan from the Swarnakkaddu Bhagavatha family and dedicated his life to the propagation of Bhagawannama Pracharam.

Sathguru Gopalakrishna Bhagavathar

(1892 – 1971)

Pudukottai

The revered Bhagavathar was instrumental in formulating the Pudukottai Bhajan Paddhathi and popularising Namasankirtanam. His tradition continues to inspire devotees across the country.

Lakshmi Nrusimha Jayanthi Utsavam

The Lakshmi Nrusimha Jayanthi Utsavam is the flagship annual event organised by the Mandali. It was started to benefit devotees and bhajan enthusiasts by providing them an opportunity to attend a celebration in similar lines to the Pudukottai Utsavam. The Utsavam was originally started by Poojya Shri Gopalakrishna Bhagavathar of Pudukottai. The tradition was later carried forward by his son Shri Sanjeevi Bhagavathar, and currently Shri Narasimha Bhagavathar continues the tradition at Pudukottai, wherein Bhagavathas from all over the country gather to celebrate this utsavam.
